Biography

Pedro Pascoali (2000) is a composer from Santos, Brazil, who works with both instrumental music for small and large ensembles as well as electroacoustic music and opera. He approaches composition as a field of intellectual speculation and is particularly interested in intertextual composition, in exploring relationships between music and text, and, in electroacoustic music, in working with a saturated gestural energy.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music under the supervision of Francisco Zmekhol at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Composition (2024), having studied with Denise Garcia and José Augusto Mannis. He has furthered his training through classes and masterclasses with composers Hèctor Parra, Jean-Luc Hervé, Dmitri Kourliandski, Januibe Tejera, Demian Luna, Rodrigo Lima, Tatiana Catanzaro, Flo Menezes, and Alexandre Lunsqui.

His music has been featured in events such as the 11th St. Petersburg International New Music Festival “reMusik.org” (2024, St. Petersburg, Russia), the IV .abeceda Contemporary Music Festival (2025, Ljubljana, Slovenia), and the XXV Bienal de Música Brasileira Contemporânea (2023, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

He has also been active as an opera composer. In 2024, Pedro Pascoali participated in the Original Vision program by Overtone Industries (Los Angeles, USA), during which he composed the chamber opera The Fishermen. He is currently a composer at the Atelier de Composição Lírica of Theatro São Pedro, where he collaborates with dramaturg Lena Giuliano on the creation of the opera Juanita: una historia de amor em portunhol, scheduled to premiere in June 2026.

He has worked with various instrumental groups, including the Orquestra Sinfônica da Unicamp, Reheard Ensemble (Russia), .abeceda [new music ensemble] (Slovenia), Ensemble Plurisons, and Ensemble Mobile.
